Yachtmaster Training

The Yachtmaster qualification is the industry standard for those wanting to work in the yachting industry perhaps as a charter or delivery skipper or the first step towards becoming an instructor.

We specialise in offering Yachtmaster training based around your practical experience and theoretical knowledge.

For the very experienced skipper we offer a five day preparation course followed by the Yachtmaster exam. Please note this is not a teaching course. It is designed to sharpen your existing skills prior to the exam and to give you a chance to familiarise yourself with the boat, your fellow crew members and the exam area.

For the less experienced we offer training covering all aspects of the Yachtmaster syllabus from practical navigation and boat handling to seamanship and safety. The training might be combined with a mile builder trip if you need to log more qualifying miles. We will teach or revise the Yachtmaster theory course as required during the practical training. We deliver the Yachtmaster training in one or two week blocks and find that most students need between two and ten weeks depending on previous experience. We will not put students forward for the exam until both us and the student agree that he or she is ready.

If you have a suitable boat of your own or access to a boat, why not do the Yachtmaster training in the familiar surroundings of your own boat. Our instructors are happy to travel to your location and and offer you training in your home waters.

For those of you who want to move to the next level we can arrange the Yachtmaster Ocean theory course and Oral exam.
